My Honest Recommendation?
Start with the free VA option. You'll need to file your disability claim with the VA either way.
If you receive a denial or an inaccurate rating through the free route, that's when my services become most valuable. We can complete an IME and/or Nexus Letter at that point - when you know you need it.
However, some veterans choose to include an IME and/or Nexus Letter with their original claim for these reasons:
- The VA might approve your claim without requiring an additional C&P exam
- If they still require a C&P exam, your documentation helps ensure all your symptoms are properly identified
- Your documentation can help streamline the exam process
What makes my evaluations different is my ability to identify symptoms you might not recognize or that other examiners often miss. I understand both military culture and how mental health symptoms can be misinterpreted or downplayed.
My Process:
- Independent Medical Examination (IME) - We would start with an IME to determine if you have a mental disorder.
- Records Review - If you do have a mental disorder, I would proceed to a Records Review to assess evidence.
- Medical Literature Review - I would conduct a Medical Literature Review to determine if medical evidence supports a connection.
- Nexus Letter - If there is sufficient evidence of a nexus to your SC disability, I would write a nexus letter to support your claim.
Standard VA Disability Claim Process
The VA will provide:
- Free medical examination
- Free records review
Your Fieldstone Service Plan:
Estimated Total Cost:
$2,850
- Independent Medical Exam (IME): $1,100
- Records Review: $350
- Medical Literature Review: $350
- Nexus Letter: $1050
- Total: $2850
If after completing Medical Literature Review and Records Review, it is determined that a positive opinion cannot be offered in a Nexus Letter, you will be informed that a Nexus Letter cannot be written and that we wouldn’t proceed with the IME.
Or, if after completing the IME, it is determined that you don’t meet the diagnostic criteria for a mental disorder, you will be informed of such, and we won’t proceed with the Nexus Letter.
